Biography

Gesine Völlm studierte Bühnen- und Kostümbild bei Jürgen Rose an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart. Seitdem entwarf sie die Kostüme für zahlreiche Tanz-, Theater- und Opernproduktionen, etwa an der Semperoper Dresden, an der Staatsoper Hamburg und an der Royal Danish Opera in Kopenhagen. Von der Zeitschrift Opernwelt wurde sie mehrmals als Kostümbildnerin des Jahres ausgezeichnet, u. a. 2009 für Parsifal bei den Bayreuther Festspielen, 2014 für Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg bei den Salzburger Festspielen und Les Vêpres siciliennes am Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London. An der Bayerischen Staatsoper entwarf sie die Kostüme für Un ballo in maschera, Der Diktator/Der zerbrochene Krug und in der Spielzeit 2022/23 für die Neuproduktion von Semele. (Stand: 2023)
